ABOUT
November 21 & November 22
8:45 AM - 5:00 PM
In leadership, what you do is more important than what you say; your everyday actions are what make the difference. Working alongside dogs makes this concept really tangible - you are either communicating a leadership message or not. Dogs give immediate feedback through their behaviour, which also signals your current leadership strengths and vulnerabilities.
This an exciting NEW hands-on training programme that brings together the expertise of Leadership Coach and Trainer Ally Mccullagh with SolutionK9 Dog Trainer and Expert Luzelle.
This programme teaches the fundamental basics of leadership - the essentials you need to know and how to put it into action so that your team are motivated and engaged to do their best work.
Participants will learn theory and directly put it into action during
the workshop so that they walk away with embedded learning
and a real increase in confidence and capability to take back to
the workplace.
CONTENT
What kind of leader am I?
Understand what is important to you and what others can expect of you. What is your style of leadership? Identify your strengths, vulnerabilities and values.
Boundaries
Identifying your leadership and personal boundaries. Know how to hold others accountable for their actions, call out negative behaviour, lead with strength and power, and create an environment of trust. Know how to deal with and manage self-rewarding behaviour.
Own your own space
Like dogs, we see before we hear. We are always looking to confirm the message we interpret on a nonverbal level rather than refute it. Your power and status is defined by how you hold and carry yourself. Shaping how you communicate on a nonverbal level will have a powerful impact on your ability to build trust and respect with your team.
Praise
How well do you set and affirm positive behaviour? How well do you communicate expectations? Positive reinforcement is a powerful way to shape behaviour and motivation. This programme will give you immediate feedback on how well you are applying this, and how to be more effective at shaping the behaviour you want to see from your team. People are willing to work a lot harder if they know what is expected of them and are given a clear idea of how to achieve it.
Consistency
Stress and frustration affects our ability to be consistent in our leadership. Consistency is crucial to develop trust and respect as a leader. We will explore what is happening on a physiologically basis during the stress response, the effect this has on others and how to counter the stress response. Learn how to hold yourself calmly with strength in stressful situations and the effect of this on others and yourself.
Listening
As leaders we need to pay attention to the individual needs of our team members. We need to listen to what is going on for them. The right action to motivate one person may be disaster for another. Leadership is about being flexible and open to individual needs as well as being strong and grounded in yourself.

The difference between helping and facilitating your team within their role, and empowering them to do this for themselves, is the fundamental difference between management and leadership.
This concept is stark and blatantly obvious when working with dogs in a way that is more subtle and elusive in the workplace.
Participants will come away with the building blocks of how to empower others and how to effectively put this into practice with their team.
